Motherboard’s second opera Kun stemmen bliver tilbage & the installation work Bruddet is staging of the human voice in a poetic space, a passageway the audience can freely approach and move through, from which music, film and live performance emerges.
From the 4.5 meter high and 8 meter wide installation, a sound collage of loud screams, murmurs, arias, duets unfolded, mixing with films played via the audiences’ phones. Bruddet consists of two rock-like, geometric figures that towered up, like fragments of a fragmented square and is an aesthetic interpretation of the landscape’s transformations and deep geological time, inspired by Denmark’s largest man-made hole: Faxe Kalkbrud, where Motherboard’s filmwork is as well captured.
Bruddet is brought to life with performances by opera singers Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano) and Morten Grove Frandsen (countertenor), accordionist Andreas Borregaard, and dancers Brittanie Brown and Max Wallmeier. In addition to live singing, choreographic situations unfolds around the geometric giant, inspired by the simple movements of single-celled amoebas and the changing physics of clouds. In addition, 11 large coral limestones from Faxe Kalkbrud participate both as active, movable parts of the work’s scenography as well as performative elements.
The opera is a sensual abstraction of existence – nature vs. human life and describes relatable aspects such as: loneliness, anger, pleasure, powerlessness and devotion.
Motherboard consists of Creative directors Signe Lykke (composer) & Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano) Filmmakers Frigge Fri & Cille Hannibal, Choreographer Tim Matiakis & Producer Trine Heide from Kind of Opera.
